Inclusive Future of Work: A Call to Action

Intelligent technologies are reshaping work and redefining which skills are in demand across industries and geographies. This report by Accenture explores how workers are facing a double disadvantage: a higher risk of technological disruption from automation and fewer resources to embrace new career pathways. It then sets out how they can be supported in this transition.

Key points include:

  • By 2022, AI alone could increase revenues by 38 percent and employment by 10 percent
  • 60 percent of employers think that less than 25 percent of their workforce is ready to work with new technologies and machines
  • In the US, eight out of 10 middle-skilled jobs require digital abilities
  • Across OECD countries, only 17 percent of workers in low-skilled occupations participate in job training each year, compared to an overall average of 40 percent.
