Mala leads EY's Corporate Governance team which conducts governance diagnostics, performs bespoke reviews of narrative reporting, and provides board training for UK listed companies and private or PE backed companies that are embarking on an IPO journey or listing on the UK markets.

It also provides practical guidance and thought leadership on governance and narrative reporting matters. Its recent thought leadership includes publications on FTSE 350 narrative reporting trends, s172 reporting and the board’s role in culture.

Mala represents EY on the CBI’s Companies Committee and runs EY UK’s forum for company secretarial and governance professionals to discuss and share their experiences and issues with their peers. She is also Non-executive Director on the Board of Trustees of Bliss – UK’s national charity for babies born premature or sick.

Mala is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has audited a number of multi-national companies in the industrial and chemical sector. Prior to her current corporate governance role, Mala was a director in EY’s Professional Practice Directorate, advising audit teams and senior client handlers of listed companies on technical auditing, corporate governance and risk management issues.
