Matt joined BRE in 2001 and is responsible for driving the expansion of BRE’s sustainability consultancy service to corporate clients. Working with over 60 specialists in all aspects of sustainable building design (new and refurbishment), Matt undertakes a key client management role in devising bespoke guidance for companies such as Marks and Spencer, Toyota Motor Europe, Barclays and EDF Energy, helping to integrate sustainability into realistic corporate policy.
In response to market demand, Matt is also leading the development of several new and innovative sustainability tools including BREEAM In Use (a new version of BREEAM for existing property portfolios) and Climate Lite (an early stage architectural design tool for new developments). An international building carbon screening tool to screen performance of new property acquisitions and a sustainability product assessment tool to help clients assess the sustainability of construction products and their suppliers are also underway.
Matt previously worked as a building services designer for WS Atkins with a particular focus on low carbon technologies. He also set up and managed a successful sustainability consultancy for over seven years, providing advice and support to public and commercial clients including the Energy Saving Trust.
