Shanghai as an International Finance Centre - A Comparison with London and Frankfurt

This article, based on research generated under the EU-China Business Management Training Project at the China Europe International Business School, analyses the conditions necessary to transform Shanghai from a domestic to an international financial centre. The background to the work is the increasing global importance of China as the powerhouse of the world economy particularly after the crisis and the decision of the State Council of China to turn Shanghai into an international financial centre by 2020.
