Destination Net Zero

To limit global warming to 1.5°C, greenhouse gas emissions must peak by 2025, decline 43 percent by 2030 and reach Net Zero by 2050.

Organisations must dramatically accelerate their transitions from setting targets to delivering outcomes. In this report, Criticaleye Partner
Accenture tracks progress on these targets and actions companies are taking to accelerate their journey to Net Zero.

Key takeaways include:

  • Companies are continuing to adopt net zero targets. 37 percent of the world's largest companies now have public targets, up three percentage points from last year.
  • While it's encouraging to see more companies cutting emissions, it's crucial to note that only 18 percent are doing so at a pace that aligns with reaching net zero by 2050.
  • Companies will accelerate their emissions reductions by adopting ten or more decarbonising levers. While such levers may be difficult and costly to implement, they are necessary for companies to achieve net zero.
