Bert is Chair at APCOA Holdings GmbH in Germany, Lanes Group in the UK, a NED at Cordia Energy in the US, and a Senior Advisor to Blackrock. He is also an experienced CEO mentor, which includes working with the Korn Ferry Chief Executive Institute and Manchester Square Partners. He has been a Criticaleye Board Mentor for a number of years.
Bert spent most of his previous 25+ working years in banking, with the majority of that time at Citigroup. Most notably, he led Citi’s business in the Czech Republic and was CEO of the UK internet bank Egg. For the last 7+ years, he has worked at Calisen in Energy transition / infrastructure, where - as CEO - he took the company through an IPO in 2020 and a subsequent take-private in 2021. He stepped-down as Chair at the end of March 2025.
Bert speaks six languages and holds a BBA from Nijenrode University in the Netherlands, as well as a Masters in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona, US.

Corda is a carve-out from Clearway Energy and is owned by KKR.
Calisen is a leading UK energy infrastructure company based in Manchester, which provides smart meters, EV charging infrastructure, solar panels, and heat pumps to UK households. It owns more than 15m installed assets in the UK and has a dedicated workforce of engineers to install and maintain them. Calisen is owned by Blackrock, Goldman Sachs, Equitix, and Mubadala. EQT and GIC acquired a majority stake in Calisen at the beginning of March 2025.
