David is currently Chair of Renew Holdings plc an AIM listed specialist engineering company that maintains and  renews critical infrastructure networks across a range of sectors including rail, water and nuclear. He was previously the SID and RemCom Chair for Renew. He is a non-executive director for a private equity backed SaaS company,Velociti, which serves the transport sector. He is also Chair of a start-up SaaS company called Tripshift which enables companies to report their scope three emissions by automatically collecting and visualising the data and reducing the carbon footprint through behavioural change. David continues to act as a transport consultant for a number of  public and private transport organisations.

Until autumn 2021, David was the Group CEO of the Go-Ahead Group plc, one of the UK’s leading public transport providers, a post he held for over 10 years. During that time, the company expanded its bus services footprint across the UK, as well as overseas in Singapore and Ireland.The company also won rail contracts in Germany and Norway under his leadership.

David was previously Chief Executive of Go-Ahead’s London Bus Division, running a quarter of the capital's bus services. He was also Managing Director of Surface Transport for Transport for London (TfL). At TfL his responsibilities included London’s buses, the strategic road network, congestion charging, the introduction of the first cycle hire scheme, plus taxis, private hire and water transport.
