Ray is a renowned international banker, Board-level leader and investor with 20 years of CEO experience across Asia, Middle East and the Americas.
He is currently Non-executive Chair at Singlife with Aviva, a life insurance company, fully licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore; Chair at PropertyGuru Group: NYSE-listed and Asia’s largest online property portal group; Chair at HeveaConnect, a digital marketplace for the trading of sustainable natural rubber that is a joint venture between Halcyon Agri, DBS Bank and Itochu; Chair at fintech company, Hashstacs Pte; and Chair at alternative asset manager, Caber Partners Pte. Ltd. In 2021, Ray was appointed an Independent Non-executive Director on the Board of SPH REIT, a Singapore-based real estate investment trust.
Ray was previously Non-executive Chair with Youtap Ltd, a company that provides real-time settlement of consumer payments, and a NED at LenddoEFL, which offers alternative credit scoring, identity verification and insights products to financial institutions in emerging markets. He was an Independent Director on the main Board of the SGX-listed business, Halcyon Agri. The company is a natural rubber supply chain manager and owns 32 natural rubber processing facilities in Asia and Africa.
Ray had a long and successful career at Standard Chartered Bank in various capacities. He was Regional CEO of South East Asia from 2007 to 2012 and CEO of Singapore from 2009 to 2014. His other roles included Chair of PermataBank (a subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank), CEO of Americas and other CEO roles in United Arab Emirates and Oman, Indonesia and Taiwan.
After leaving Standard Chartered in 2012, Ray joined Bank ABC (Arab Banking Corporation) in 2014 as EVP & Group Chief Banking Officer. Based in Bahrain, he led the group-wide strategic and operational management of the banking businesses. Ray left Bank ABC in 2017 and returned to Singapore to develop his non-executive portfolio career.
