Bert is Chair at Calisen Ltd in the UK, a NED at Cordia Energy in the US, and a Senior Advisor to Blackrock. He is also an experienced CEO mentor, which includes working with the Korn Ferry Chief Executive Institute.
Bert spent most of his previous 25+ working years in banking with the majority of that time at Citigroup. Most notably, he led Citi’s business in the Czech Republic and was CEO of the internet bank, Egg. He has worked at American Express and was CEO of Hellenic Bank, a listed, systemic bank in Cyprus. He speaks six languages and holds a BBA from Nijenrode University in the Netherlands as well as a Masters in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona, US.
Calisen is a UK energy infrastructure company based in Manchester, which provides smart meters, EV charging infrastructure and attendant services. As CEO of the company, before becoming Chair, Bert successfully listed the Company on the LSE in February 2020. During the Covid pandemic however the company was taken private again by a consortium of infrastructure funds; Blackrock, Goldman Sachs and Mubadala. Whilst it was listed, Calisen was a FTSE 250 company with a market cap of around £1.4 billion, and it was the first ever company to be awarded the LSE's Green Economy Mark upon listing, in recognition of its ESG credentials.
