Bahren is the former CEO of the Bank of Singapore, having held the role from 2015 to 2022. Prior to that, he was Southeast Asia's Senior Managing Director and Global Market Head. He has more than 30 years of banking experience.

In 2016, he was conferred the Singapore Institute of Banking and Finance Distinguished Fellow award, in recognition of his significant contribution to the financial industry and outstanding leadership capabilities.

Bahren has been a Director of SPH Media Holdings since March 2022. He was an Independent Board Member of the publicly listed Singapore Press Holdings Ltd. (SPHL) from April 2012 until November 2021. He was the Chair of the Audit Committee (AC) and the Nomination Committee (IVC).

In June 2021, he was appointed as a Board Member of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Board of Trustees. He has been a Member of the Council of Presidential Advisors since April 2017.

Bahren graduated with an accountancy degree from the National University of Singapore.

He was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2008 and the Public Service Star Medal in 2018.
