We Must Make Boards Better

Authored by Bob Garratt, Professor Extraordinaire; Chairman Centre For Corporate Governance in Africa, University of Stellenbosch Business School, South Africa

In this article, Bob Garratt, the author of ‘The Fish Rots from the Head’, the bestselling book that highlights the importance of effective corporate governance and criticises the lowly boardroom standards brought to light by the Downturn, asks why we only pay lip service to corporate governance when we are so well placed to develop the best practices.

The article, which is based on Bob’s comments in The Sunday Times in January 2011, is supported by comments from Bernard Cragg, Mike Turner and Jim Wilkinson.
