People and Machines: From Hype to Reality

Organisations see the promise of higher productivity and lower costs of AI and automation, however there is more to making a success of these than just the technology itself. This report by PA Consulting looks at how these new technologies directly affect people’s jobs.

Key points include:

  • Among employers that have introduced AI and automation in the last five years, 43 percent report job creation 
  • 45 percent of workers affected by AI and automation think their work has sped up
  • 33 percent noted an increase in the number of interesting tasks, whereas six percent saw a decrease
  • 61 percent of employers that have introduced AI and automation said employees need more skills and knowledge
