Peter is the Chief Executive of The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). He is recognised as a consultant, speaker and writer in the field of human capital and organisation, and has worked with many organisations, practitioners and thought leaders in this field. He is currently also a Director of the Institute of Leadership and Management, having previously been the Chairman, and is a member of the Council of City & Guilds, a European Board Director of Junior Achiever - Young Enterprise, and an Executive Fellow at London Business School.
Until he left the company in 2009, Peter was Global Managing Director of Accenture's Talent and Organisation Performance consulting practice. He has extensive international experience gained from many years of working with leading businesses around the world on human capital and organisational strategy, talent management and HR transformation, and the management of change. He has written numerous articles for leading publications worldwide and was the lead author on a book, The Talent-Powered Organisation, published in October 2007 by Kogan Page. In 2008 he was named by Consulting Magazine as one of the top 25 consultants worldwide.
